The mission of Emergency Food Network (EFN) is to provide Pierce County with a consistent, diverse, and nutritious food supply, so that no person goes hungry. EFN believes that everyone deserves access to the food they need, not just to survive, but to thrive. In support of this vision, they supply their network of 75+ food pantries, meal sites, and shelters with over a million pounds of food each month.
The Washington State Department of Agriculture reported that in fiscal year 2025, 1 in 4 WA residents visited a food pantry. This means that everyone in our community has been affected by food insecurity or knows someone who has. EFN recognizes the month of May as Hunger Awareness Month and encourages everyone in Pierce County to do at least one thing to address hunger in our community.
Through leveraging donations, government food assistance programs, and its Co-op Food Purchasing Program, EFN is able to distribute 2 meals for $1. Please join EFN in turning Hope into Action this Hunger Awareness Month by donating non-perishable food at your local Neighborhood Financial Center or to this virtual food-and-fund drive. Thank you for helping ensure that everyone in our community has nourishing food!
